    ______________

Humber College: Wednesday, 11:30amConference of Conferences: Fixing Broken Models

GT is a product of consultations with a range of people from across the sector, and in that spirit comes the Conference of Conferences series.

Conference of Conferences unites like-minded professionals from all sides of the experience - those attending, producing, observing, and thinking about the way our sector gathers in conference/showcase situations. The goal is to come together to share resources, advocate, and address issues critical to the sector, and make sure we are creating the ideal spaces in which to do so. Gatherings have been held at GT22 and Folk Alliance International 2023.

At GT23, small-group conversations will be guided by a few questions about how gatherings like GT and other conference/showcase spaces can do better. The session ends with each small group reporting back to the full conference.

    ______________

It’s OK* Studios: Thursday, 11:15amHighway 401 Connection, presented in partnership with Mundial Montreal

Mundial Montreal presents a networking activity centred on Highway 401, the major artery between Windsor and Quebec City, passing through Toronto and Montreal, where more than half the population of Canada resides. The session is aimed at strengthening the connections between industry professionals from along the route, helping artists and representatives find opportunities to develop, model, connect with, or plug into regional networks.

Despite their geographical proximity, Ontario and Quebec remain disjointed in the wider cultural scope, and the session speaks to wider concerns of finding ways to grow networks and strengthen relationships across regions. This is the story of a particular geography, but also more: Conversations will examine ways to connect like-minded artists and professionals, to the benefit of the wider ecosystem.

TMU: Friday, 3:30pm Next is NOW: What happened, what’s to come

With one more evening showcase ahead of us, and four days of GT behind us, we look back, over the week — what we learned, what we heard, what we saw, what we experienced — and ahead, to the work that we have to do. This session is a chance to raise questions about where we are as a sector, and where we could be, and a chance to connect to the community built over the previous four days.
